Character Crazy! (& Come on you Hammers!)

I have to say that I absolutely LOVED this months Challenge at D.C.C & Friends Challenges ! As a design team member I was really lucky to be given the choice of images from the papercraftjunkies website. Talk about being a child in a sweetshop, WOO HOO!
I was instantly drawn to the character Hammer (who happens to share his name with the nickname of my football team West Ham!) and decided that I would like to try something different.
As I am completely in love with my Silhouette Cameo at the moment, I decided to create a "Nut" shaped card and the cogs wheels and other nuts using the Cameo. I also created a print and cut decoupage file for Hammer, which I cut and coloured in using my copics, then glazed using glossy accents. I traced images of cogs and wheels and then cut them in brown kraft card, which I painted with pewter and bronze crackle accent paints.
I wanted the silver hexagon inside the card to be embossed, so I draw and cut small nuts (using the cameo) and then sprinkled them on my Calibur embossing mat, I put the silver card on top and then ran it through the  Calibur.
I used Black Soot Distress Ink to ink the edges of the nut card & I must add something here, I saw a demo of the new Splodge away mat at a show recently. I was very sceptical that it could be any different to the glass cutting mat or brown craft mat that I already had. but as I am rubbish with a capital R at inking smoothly I decided to give one a try. I have to say that I am BLOWN AWAY by it! I have no idea what it is or why it works, but the smoothness of the inking is astonishing! If you look at the inking on my card you wont see any lines or blotches FANTASTIC!

Vintage - Ribbons, Lace and Buttons

This month the challenge at Cards Galore is Vintage Lace and Buttons and as a member of the design team I was lucky to be given a special digi image designed especially for the challenge , by the challenge sponsor, Scrappers Delight!

To enter just pop along to Cards Galore with any crafty work that follows the theme. The winner gets $5 to spend in the Scrappers Delight Download Shop which means you could buy all four Holly Hobbie Images and have enough money left over to treat yourself to another one too!

For my image I decided to try something different. My daughter, Bethany keeps a diary and I thought it would be a fun idea to make her an old fashioned Muslin bag for it. I made the bag using my sewing machine (and most of my patience) and I transferred the printed, digital Holly Hobbie image on to another piece of white muslin, which I sewed on. I added ribbons, buttons on the drawstring, and dried rosebuds (which smell gorgeous!) to each corner.

I have made a tutorial for image transferring which will be available soon on the Cards Galore site (and I will post it on here on Monday!)

Sorry the photos aren't too good, I will retake them but at the moment we are still clearing up after OBR! (Operation Bethany's Room) more aout that at the weekend!
