Brushos and Stamps for Anything Goes!

November's theme at Cards Galore Encore is Anything Goes and we are sponsored by the lovely Whoopsie Daisy, who are offering two free sheets of lovely digi's from their shop. Click on the badge below to have a look at their fab images.

We also have some exciting news, we are looking for new team members to start on January 1st 2015! If you would like to join us please click on the badge below to see the details!

I couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to go to an Eileen Godwin workshop at Oyster Stamps. She is a lovely lady and her creations with Brushos (amongst other things ) are amazing. I was really inspired and so for my project I used the techniques that I learnt at the workshop.
To begin with I wanted a "Splodge", stencil. Fortunately I have a Cameo, so I designed my own "Broken Lattice Splodge", and cut it out of Mylar.

I then popped a tiny amount of Brusho powder on to my glass mat, added some water. I used purple, yellow and leaf green. If you haven't seen these bad boys in action you are in for a treat. You literally use a few grains (never open the lid to the brushos, just put a pin prick in it) and sponged the colour through the mask. Once it was dry I stamped flowers using the Penny Black Stamp, "Delicate Florals" and also water droplets from the fabulous Designs by Ryn stamps set. I then painted in the flowers and the droplets using brushos. I double mounted the card and felt it didn't need anything else added to it.
I hope you like it, it is my first unguided attempt with Brushos and I have to say I am really pleased with it!

Trick or Treat? Scary or sweet?

This month at Crafts Galore Encore the theme  is "Trick or Treat? Something Scary or Something Sweet?" and you have the option of entering a Halloween project or a "sweet", project (as not everybody likes Halloween!)

We are sponsored this month by the fabulous Kenny K and we have two prizes, both are for two digis of choice from the Kenny K website, one will be chosen at random and the other on merit!
We look forward to seeing all your entries but PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK IF YOU ARE A WINNER!(See the tab above!)
This month we also have another bonus prize of a set of Christmas stamps which will go to a chosen winner.

I began by painting gesso on a sheet of A4 card. I then cut out a background with bat cut outs using my trusty Cameo. I used Gelatos to colour over the background working from red, through orange to yellow and blending it. I sealed it with hairspray. I cut the black foreground on my Cameo and also used it to Print and Cut the Mummy. The mummy was coloured using green and warm grey copics. When I layered it up I created depth with silicon glue and put on three card candis!
Happy crafting and Happy Halloween!

My First Canvas!

I have wanted to create a canvas for a long time so when the theme for the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge for August was chosen as, "Anything Goes", I decided it was time to have a bash at it!
I began by covering the canvas in Gesso, once that was dry I tore masking tape up to mask the edge of the canvas, creating a ragged border. I then took my finishing brush (which is a 1950's 4" Badger haired brush) and lightly brushed the canvas with Paper Artsy Chalk Paints, brushing horizontally and then vertically to create texture. I used Claudine Hellmuth matt medium to adhere pieces of old book pages to the canvas, some of which I sprayed with water when dry and then peeled off to leave the text transferred beneath. I stamped my canvas using Stazon and a range of stamps from Dyan Reavely (Dylusions) and Tim Holtz. I also used various stencils which had artists texture paste roughly smeared through them. Both the stamps and the texture paste areas were then coloured in with Faber Castell Pitt Artists pens (both big and small) and I added more colour with gelatos. At the end when everything was dry I used a black pen to add dots and outline the stamped areas,
Finally I glued some randomly placed green dew drops on and ran washi tape around the edges of the canvas.
I have to say that I am really pleased with it and will be trying more!
This month's challenge is sponsored by Di's Digis and the prize is a whopping $12 to spend on Di's gorgeous digi stamps so do please enter our challenge HERE the design team have really come up trumps and their beautiful creations are well worth a look!

Summer Travels!

Hello, Bethany and I are back from Portugal and we had a lovely time. This month the Crafts Galore Challenge is sponsored by, Fred She Said. I have to say the digis there are gorgeous and I just love this 'ole pickup truck!
The theme is, "Use a stamp or digi stamp Somewhere on your Project", and the prize is a fab $15 gift certificate to the Fred She Said store.
I coloured my truck using B91- B99 , B41, B32, W0-W5 and C00 - C09 of my Copics. I picked random G's and YG's for the grass and YR's for the flowers.
I used a glaze on the glass and headlights and used my Cameo to cut out the digi image and the signpost and vinyl lettering.
It reminds me of the lazy, hazy days of summer!

Scribble and Scrap with a LOTV Fairy Child !

Hello, hopefully when you read this I will be in the sunshine with my darling daughter ... looking out on the lashing rain as I type, I hope I am anyway, but I don't like to count my chickens!

It is "Anything Goes", over at Scribble and Scrap and I used the fantastic In the Pink set 1 and Fabulously Feminine Set 1 papers with my LOTV stamp (which is one of my all time fave stamps)
Once again I used coloursoft pencils to colour in on Kraft card!

Playing with my Pencils!

It's that time again, time to join in at Scribble and Scrap with their always, "Anything Goes", Challenge. With a chance to win £15-£20 of Scribble and Scrap Vouchers.
I used Vintage Beauty 4 for my card. I decided to try something different this time, I printed the image on to brown kraft card and coloured it in using Derwent Coloursoft pencils. I just love how you can use the pale colours so effectively!I haven't used them before and got much better results than with my polychromos!
I cut the frames mats and feathers on my Cameo and coloured the feathers with the pencils too.
I love the effect and will be messing about with pencils for a while I think!

Guest DT Spot at Quirky Crafts :)

Hello, I am delighted to say that I was asked to be a Guest Designer at Quirky Crafts. The sponsor for the challenge is Stitchy Bears and they are offering three prizes of 3 digi stamps each. The theme is,

"As proud(and beautiful) as a  Peacock".

The image that I chose to work with is IkesArt Peacock
I decided to try and give the image a "Film Cell", feel. The image was printed by laser printer, foiled in black and coloured with Copics. I then reversed the image and set it in a frame cut on my Cameo. The feather and lettering were cut on the cameo, the feather coloured in Copics and the letters in vinyl.I thought the whole design was a little, "Art Nouveau", so I went for a font that I thought would match. I created a small folded spine which I attached to the front of a 6 x 6" card, and then attached the front of the card to that. This allows the light to shine through the acetate.
I think it would make a lovely window decoration!
Happy Crafting,
Denyse x

A new "Anything Goes", challenge is starting over at Scribble and Scrap. For this challenge I used the totally lovelydotty papers from In the Pink Set-1.
My image is from Art by Miran , I coloured using Copics, cut the flowers and mats on my Cameo and rolled the flower using the papers from the set. I hot glued a ruffle to the back of the flower, and added gems too. I wanted to create a turned back effect so I cut two triangles to achieve this, and rolled back the paper!

All Things Bright and Beautiful!

Today sees the start of another challenge over at Cards Galore Encore head over and see the great DT work and for your chance to win a fab prize sponsored by Blue Moon Creation.
If you would like to join out DT please enter the challenge, "Anything goes", and put DT after your name.
I didn't get a chance to work with the Bluemoon images as I had samples to prepare for Stamp Addicts.
There are some stunning grunge stamps available to buy now and at the moment there is 20% off everything (except for magazines) online and instore with the discount code SPRING. This great offer is available until 5th May!
Here is one of my DT pieces. I created a frame on my Cameo and covered it with book pages, it was then inked with gelatos and distress pens. I created a mask for the large and smaller Grunge flowers and stamped them in stazon onto white card, over laying them.  Gelatos and Big Brush Pitt pens (both from faber Castell) were used to colour the flowers. The image was backed with black card and before sticking down, some of the flowers were pulled out  from behind the frame.

Blue - Belle!

Hello, hope you all had a peaceful Easter! Today I have my DT card for Scribble and Scrap Challenge #17 (always , "Anything Goes") where you can win a £10-£15 voucher to spend in the Scribble and Scrap Shop.
I was inspired by the beautiful lemon papers in the Soft Lemon and White digi paper set  and as I love bluebells I decided to use the Bluebell Sprite 2 digi stamp  from Aurora Wings.
I laser printed the stamp and foiled it in black. It was coloured with my Copics and I also used my polychromos pencils (which I blended with a paper stump dipped in Sansodor).
I cut the bluebells, image and lettering and mats on my Cameo. To get the right colour to match for the bluebells I cut the heads and mat in textured white and coloured them in the same way that I coloured the character. I did the same with the lettering, it was a bit painstaking but I think it was worth it. Finally everything that had been coloured was covered with a clear wink of stella brush pen ... and boy does it twinkle!
I am still learning to use my new camera , so the colour isn't quite right in the photos, but I think I will try again in daytime , when the sun is shining!

Happy Birthday Mum!

I just wanted to say a very special Happy Birthday to my Mum Betty.
This is the card I made for her. Everything (including the scrapper's delights digi stamp) is cut on my Cameo. the image is coloured with Copics. I am experiencing issues with my HP desk jet and my Copics, so I have been laser printing my images and then foiling in black, which i think is a great effect anyway!

An Easter treat!

Well I am recovering from visiting  the Big Stamp and Scrapbooking show yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and met up with some fabulous crafting friends, Gemma, Tamzin, Jean and Louise!
Once again it is time for the Scribble and Scrap and challenge, which is always anything goes.
I am particularly excited this week as I have actual designed my own Silhouette files!
I wanted to create an Easter treat bag and to incorporate the lovely Archie digi stamp. I used Serif draw to create a top and bottom to my bag, and also the mats. I drew the flower, egg and zigzags myself in the program and exported them.
I traced the Archie digi, used print and cut and then coloured using my copics.
I measured a piece of cellophane to the width of the bag and adjusted the height to suit the number of eggs that I had to wrap. I created a tube with double sided tape running down the middle at the back (the bag could be made from Acetate!)
The top part of the bag features a v shaped (book cover)piece of card and then the handle piece (which sticks on to the v shaped piece). The bottom of the bag is just a v shaped (book cover) piece with a mat. I decorated with my flowers, which were printed from the Scribble and Scrap papers, One for the Boys (I LOVE that paper pack!) and Soft Lemon and White
So here is my Easter treat bag, with for the very first time my own Silhouette Files :)

Saucy Susie!

Another month has flown by and it is time for the next Crafts Galore Encore Challenge! The theme this month is to include your favourite colour (how easy is that) and it is sponsored by the fabulous Kenny K. If you haven't checked this brilliant source of digi stamps out yet, then you need to!
There are two prizes of two digi stamps each, one will be drawn at random and one will be picked on merit!

I chose this amazing, vintage/western image and have named the character, Saucy Susan. She lives in a bordello on the edge of town and has recently discovered that selfies (with a hint of a garter) can achieve good prices in the G-Hay auctions, at the back of the barn!
I coloured Susie with my copics (I just love turquoise) and used a fab paper from Scribble and Scrap (One for the boys) as my background "wallpaper". The tickets, image, mats, chandelier, hole reinforcers and wain skirting were all cut on my trusty cameo and I finished it off with some screw type brads and a vintage looking pin.

I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles!

Couldn't resist that, being a lifelong West Ham fan ( I appeared in the newspaper having just turned 5 years old, for singing it in a talent competition!)
Well life has been a little hectic for me, which has meant my blogging has been put on the back burner for a while, so I am pleased to say that I am getting back into the swing of things and returning to, "Duties", for the Scribble and Scrap Design Team. Whilst I have been away Lexie has been busy designing some really fabulous paper sets. I love having lots and lots of digi papers as they are always there when you need them and don't take up space!!
For my project I decided to use the "One for the Boys", paper set, for £5 you receive 62 patterned 6 x 6 papers and 8 plain papers!
As you can see the papers are extremely versatile and not just for the boys (girl power too!) I used a digi by Miran (her work is so fabulous and exceptionally colourable) which I just love because of the bubble blowing.
As always the theme of the challenge is, "ANYTHING GOES", and there are £15 worth of Scribble and Scrap vouchers available to the winning entry :)
I cut the papers on my Cameo and coloured the image with my copics, it was a challenge to try and get the right effect where the bubbles are in front of the hair. As an embellishment, I made a bubble wand from wire. I twisted it into shape added beads to the handle and glued tissue paper to the head. I typed "Make a wish", in Silhouette studio, reversed it and cut it in vinyl. This was then stuck on the back of the tissue paper. The front was heat embossed with UTEE and some frantage glitter was sprinkled in before it set.
Hope you like it!

A New Challenge!

Our third Challenge has just gone live at Crafts Galore Encore and this month there needs to be a stamped element in your project. It can be tiny but it has to be there!
I chose to use the Skull-tastic stamp set from Stamp Addicts. I stamped the hat using Stazon ink, on to shrink plastic masked it and then added the top hat. I cut them out, punched a hole  heated them with my heat gun and added earring findings. I made the box and inserts on my Cameo, stamped & inked the flat cut out before assembling the box and adding a ribbon pull.
The challenge is sponsored by Glamoureyes and the prize is 5 digis and a surprise clear stamp!

Happy Birthday Tamzin!!

My lovely friend Gemma's daughter Tamzin,  is 12 today so I would like to wish her a very Happy Birthday! A little birdie told me that Tamzin likes owls and the colours purple and pink, so I made her two little needle felted owls and an owl themed card. I was pleased with the card as I found an owl shape and then altered it and turned it into a silhouette sketch file which I coloured in using my copics. The patchwork , mats and letters were all done on the Cameo and I heat embossed the letters.
I haven't blogged much lately as I have found time management a little tricky lol! I hope I will pick up with my blogging and crating now :)
Happy Crafting everybody,

Love is in the Air!

February is here and that means that we start a new challenge over at Cards Galore Encore. This month you need to add an element of bling, how much bling is up to you but if you include just one tiny gem/pearl/blob of glitter you fit the theme!

Our sponsor is the fabulous Scrappers Delights and the prize is 3 digis of your choice from the Scrappers Delights Store.

I chose the beautiful Rose and Tag Digi which is only 80p at the moment!
For my card I printed the image on my laser printer and then foiled it in black (as my inkjet printer is refusing to print black). It was cut using print and cut on my Cameo then I coloured it using my Copics, trying to get a pale washed out effect. The papers I used to mount the card are from Craftwork Cards and the doily was cut from Kraft card using a Cheery Lynn Die.I added 3 gems and some shine to the petals for

Happy New Year! Happy New DT!

I haven't been in blog land much of late so I apologise for that but to make up for it I have some very exciting news! Isobel Hunter and I have taken over the Cards Galore Challenge Blog as of today!

We have renamed it Cards Galore Encore, although the blog address remains the same.

Our first challenge is, "Anything Goes", and is sponsored by the fabulous Lexie at Scribble and Scrap. Lexie has generously donated a £15 prize for the winner and there are blog badges for the top three chosen projects.

As I have been otherwise engaged I am going to show you some work that I previously created using Scribble and Scrap digis.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and if 2013 was a bit of a 13 for you, I hope that 2014 isn't!!

Happy Crafting,

Denyse x
