I am particularly pleased as I am finding myself drawn more and more towards mixed media and joining this DT allows me to explore this style further.
The challenges are always mixed media and Anything Goes. This month the sponsor is The Dusty Attic
For my first DT piece I decided to create a sketchbook for my lovely, artistic, daughter Bethany. It needed to be pocket sized so I started with two pieces of chipboard which I covered with canvas paper. I then used PaperArtsy paints with my fingers to create a background.
The circles (ELB 29 from the new PaperArtsy stamps by Lin Brown ) were stamped on, using Archival ink in Cobalt and Sepia. I then added some darker paint to the corners and cut photo corners out of brown card, on my Cameo.
I used a Prima heart sticker which I rubbed gold foil on to, and using random dots of glue I added gold flakes to the covers.
I then cut a name plate from waste card and used Deco Art Fluid media paint in Quin Gold and Paynes grey to give it an aged metal look. I used an old typewriter font to create the label and stuck them on.
For the inside covers I used kraft card. I stamped with the same stamp set adding the beautiful leaf skeleton and then used some punchinella as a stencil to sponge fresco paint and tinting base through. I finished with some black splodges.
Before sticking the inside covers down (on top of the ends of the concertina paper) I coloured some white ribbon with my copic markers, so I could get a good match and stuck it on to the end plates.
This is how it looks assembled and open!
I hope you like it, Bethany does and I cannot wait to see what she creates in it :)
