Tando Creative Planner for January!

This month at Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenges we are sponsored by the fabulous Tando Creative, who are offering two prizes of a 30% discount voucher for Tando Creative products on their website (the discount only applies to Tando products not to other brands).

I have been really unwell over the past month so decided to share with you this lovely planner which I started at a Ministry of Mixology workshop with Kate Crane. All of the MoM kits are available at Tando and if you would like to create your own planner you can find it HERE

So here is my journal complete with a little character I drew!

Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy 2018,
Happy Creating!

... And A Happy New Year!

Hello and welcome to my second post for today. At the Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge Blogspot, we are starting our December Challenge. This month we are sponsored by the lovely Sophie at Scrappmatts, who are offering a goody bag for the winner.

I decided that I wanted to create a Christmas Plaque and used triple embossing to create the background "Tile" (which is cardboard!) and the centrepiece, which I stamped into. I also triple embossed a die cut snowflake and am thinking of making some for my Christmas tree!
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and that 2018 is a happy and healthy year for you all.
Happy Crafting!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you all. Another year has flown passed and it is time to put up our Christmas Decorations and spend precious time with loved ones.
This is the first of two posts for today.
At Crafts Galore Encore we are sponsored by the fabulous, Fred She Said who are offering the winner a whopping $10 voucher for their online store!

I was very lucky to use the pair of robins image which you can find here . I decided to colour them with pencils and then mounted them with some die cut snowflakes, beads and ribbon.

Mixed Media Fun with Decoart Products!

At Creative Artiste this month we are sponsored by Decoart who are offering some fabulous Decoart goodies for the chosen winner of our challenge.
Who are offering one lucky winner this fabulous mixed media starter set!!!

I particularly love a Decoart Challenge as I am at my happiest when playing with their products!
This particular project took many forms for me!
At first it was painted with layers of Fluid Acrylics and Crackle glaze, which were then buffed with antiquing cream and cold gilding wax.
I added texture paste and chrome ink but it was looking (as a friend said) "Too Frou Frou", for me! So I took a steel brush to it and knocked it back again(as you do!)

I then started again! With a new layer of fluid acrylic. I die cut a fishing net out of card and embossed it with Stampendous embossing powder then ripped it up for texture. I stamped over the heart with Stazon then sprayed a plaster of Paris bandage and placed it on the surface (I picked a number of these up in Lille for .6 of a euro!) When dry I painted over the textured areas and brushed in gold pigment.

I heat embossed some areas with different embossing powders and then added varnish and crackle glaze. Texture paste was added, along with Frantage pieces and also the fabulous liquid glass by Decoart. Once again I added Decoart gold gilding wax to the cracks and edges.

To finish I added an industrial bulb with a hot glue gun and then painted some paper covered wire gold using the luscious Decoart Metallic Gold paint, which I twisted around the filament.

Take a box ...

This month at the Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge we are sponsored by Scrapp Matts & Papertole Australia

who offer a fabulous variety of mixed goodies for crafters and artists alike, to enjoy.
For my DT piece I took a balsa wood box from The Works and decided to transform it into a vintage style box. The frame surrounding the plaque is from Scrapmatts and I painted it with gold Decoart, which is really highly pigmented paint and really gives a metallic look to the fab frame from scrapmatts.
. I am going to be sharing the techniques that I used at a workshop at Beautiful Things Brentwood, Essex and am really looking forward to it.
I love how you can make very basic items look completely aged!
Happy creating!

Chocolate button?

At Creative Artiste Mixed Media we are starting a new monthly challenge sponsored by Maja Design.

For my DT piece I decided to upcycle an old chocolate button pot.
I taped the area above the silver clip, then painted it with Paperartsy chalk paint.
I then cut and inked scrapbook paper to cover both the outside and inside. I also created a bottom for the dome at the top, inked it and added a flower embellishment from the Craft Box collection.
I also inked the edges of the box.
Finally I treated some muslin with Terialmagic and inked it with distress inks to make it look old.

Happy Crafting!

June Challenge at Creative Artiste

Over at Creative Artiste we have another fabulous "Anything Goes using Mixed Media" Challenge, sponsored by our very own team member Judy McKay who is offering a lovely stamp bundle as a prize.

I have been coveting the Screen Sensation silkscreen printing kit ever since it first came out and my lovely Mum, very kindly bought it for me when it was on a recent PoD on Create and Craft!!! I decided I wanted to make a little sketch journal for my holidays to I used chipboard shapes to create a cover which I gessoed and then used mod podge to stick muslin on to. I then used my Screen sensation to print butterflies on to the muslin. I chose a bright blue ink with a plain white background as I love the freshness of the combination and it reminds me of salty seas and sunny skies!
To complete the look I added  a butterfly charm made from stamping text on to card and then die cutting a butterfly shape and overlay. The book and charm were punched using my cropadile and eyelets were added. I used binder rings to construct the book and filled it with white mixed media paper.
Happy Crafting,
